Call for Participation - University of Mauritius

Awareness Week 2011

Theme: “Knowledge on Adjusting National Development and Processes to Fully Incorporate Climate Change Risks and Opportunities Generated and
Shared Across All Levels”

FINAL Call for Contributions

In the context of the Africa Adaptation Programme, the University of Mauritius will be organising in July-August 2011 an Awareness Week on the theme “Knowledge on Adjusting National Development and Processes to fully Incorporate Climate Change Risks and Opportunities Generated and Shared Across All Levels”.

We are therefore inviting contributions from Departments of the University of Mauritius. The contributions should preferably be multidisciplinary in content and outlook and departmentally-reviewed. It is expected that respective Heads of Departments would set up internal review mechanisms that would be clear and objective.

One of the main objectives of this event is to disseminate research results into policy-relevant language and context that is accessible and understandable to policy-makers, for effective and rapid implementation.

Submissions should demonstrably be linked to Climate Change. The areas of interest are as follows:

  • Adaptation Strategies to Address Climate Change
  • Capacity Building to Address Climate Change
  • Agriculture
  • Food Security
  • Biodiversity
  • Fisheries
  • Culture
  • Deforestation and Desertification
  • Environmental Degradation
  • Poverty
  • Renewable Energies
  • Sustainable Production and Consumption
