About the UniversityThe University of Mauritius (UoM) was awarded the WTO Chair Programme along with 13 other Universities in a competitive selection process. This award is a tribute to the competence of the University and to the dedication of its academics. It is also an encouragement to researchers and students to take an interest in multilateral trade matters, a cornerstone of international global governance. The WTO will provide financial support to UoM, amounting to CHF 50,000 annually, for a period of four years to facilitate continuous interaction between the University and other think-tanks around the world. It aims at supporting UoM and associated individual scholars in course preparation, teaching, research and outreach activities. This programme is part of the technical assistance and training programme that the WTO delivers, with a view to enhancing the quality and level of participation of developing countries in the multilateral trading system. Founded in 1965, The University of Mauritius has as its core mission, the creation and dissemination of knowledge among the citizens of Mauritius and the international community as a whole. Its vision is to be a leading international university, bridging knowledge across continents through excellence and intellectual creativity. Located in the peaceful area of Réduit, the University has five faculties, namely the Faculty of Law & Management, the Faculty of Agriculture, the Faculty of Engineering, The Faculty of Science, and the Faculty of Social Studies & Humanities.
