On 12 March 2018, Mauritius will be celebrating a momentous milestone – the 50th Anniversary of Independence. This Golden Jubilee is a historic occasion which will, undoubtedly, be celebrated with great pride by all Mauritians, without distinction. In this context, a series of National Events and Activities are being organised to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of our country’s accession to Independence to culminate in March 2018.

To give due recognition to Members of the Mauritian Diaspora who have forged their way far from their motherland, the University of Mauritius is organizing an International Conference of the Mauritian Academic Diaspora. The Conference will take place on Tuesday 20, Wednesday 21 and Thursday 22 February 2018 at the University of Mauritius.

Conference Theme
The theme of the Conference is “Mauritian Diaspora: Showcasing International Success”. Since Independence, many Mauritians have left the shores of their home country to settle abroad and are today very successful in their career. This International Conference aims to bring together Members of Mauritian diaspora from the scholarly and academic fields to engage with their counterparts at the University of Mauritius and other local Universities. It will be a unique forum for sharing of professional experiences and discussing future joint projects. Beyond Academia, this forum aims to build effective Diaspora relationships and opportunities for engagement for the progress of our motherland.

We invite you to join us in February 2018 to celebrate the Golden Anniversary of our country’s Independence!
