It is with great pleasure that I announce the celebrations of Africa Day 2024 by the University of Mauritius, on Friday 24 May 2024.
This year’s theme, “Educate an African fit for the 21st Century”, underscores our University’s commitment to fostering a future-ready education system that empowers individuals and communities across our continent.
The University of Mauritius is honoured to celebrate Africa Day 2024 by organising a Forum featuring inspiring keynote addresses from renowned Speakers on the topic: Empowering Communities through Academic Excellence and Inclusive Education – Facing the Challenges in Africa. This Forum brings together academics, researchers, policymakers, students and stakeholders for a meaningful policy dialogue on how academic excellence and inclusive education can drive sustainable development throughout Africa.
In addition to the Forum, we will also pay tribute to the rich and diverse cultures of Africa through a musical and cultural show performed by talented students from our University as well as from other universities in Mauritius. This celebration not only highlights the vibrant cultural heritage of our continent but also reinforces our University’s dedication to promoting inclusivity and cultural appreciation.
The University of Mauritius reaffirms its unwavering support and commitment to raising the profile of the national education system. We are dedicated to contributing to the sustainable development of Africa by nurturing knowledgeable and skilled graduates who will lead our communities towards a prosperous future.
We look forward to celebrating this significant occasion with you and to working together to reflect on the various challenges facing our continent through education and empowerment.
Best wishes
Professor Sanjeev K Sobhee
